The ESD Neon chair delivers dependable electrostatic discharge protection for demanding ESD workstations, meeting the requirements of DIN EN 61340-5-1 with a typical discharge resistance of 10⁶ Ohm. The ESD Neon chair suits electronics assembly lines, PCB handling stations, and any workstation where personnel need reliable protection against electrostatic discharge combined with full-shift ergonomic comfort. Its combination of adjustable seat height, mechanism choice and upholstery options makes it straightforward to match the chair to a specific workstation and task, rather than adapting the workstation to the chair.

Modular 1+1 Design

The ESD Neon chair uses Bimos’ modular 1+1 system: a chair frame with mechanism, paired with an interchangeable upholstery element. The upholstery is fixed to the frame through a click system and can be replaced without tools, independently of the frame itself. This modularity keeps maintenance simple and extends the working life of the chair, since a worn cover can be swapped without replacing the entire seat. For shipping purposes, the chair may arrive in two separate packages: the frame (760 × 660 × 400 mm) and the upholstery element (490 × 650 × 160 mm).

Seat Height and Frame Options

The ESD Neon chair is available with six frame codes, covering two seat height ranges: 450-620 mm and 560-820 mm. Each frame can be fitted with either glides or castors, and comes with a choice of two mechanisms: a permanent contact backrest, where the backrest follows the user’s movement and provides continuous support, particularly suited to tasks performed leaning forward, or a synchronous mechanism, which links seat and backrest movement for balanced support during more active sitting. All frames have a load capacity of 120 kg and a base diameter of 700 mm.

Upholstery Choices

The seat and backrest of the ESD Neon chair can be upholstered in four ESD-safe materials. Duotec ESD fabric is a breathable material that absorbs and releases moisture, offering lasting comfort during long periods of sitting, and can be cleaned with standard upholstery cleaning agents. Synthetic leather Magic is PVC-free, quick and easy to clean, and resistant to oils and commercially available disinfectants. Skintec ESD combines a soft upholstery core with an easy-care surface that is resistant to disinfectants, tested and certified, and produced without environmentally harmful substances. Supertec ESD is made from hard-wearing, cut-resistant, non-slip micro-plating with a soft backing material, staying breathable and comfortable even during long shifts. A coloured flex strip, in blue, green, grey or orange, runs along the base of the backrest on every configuration, adding a visual accent to the ESD Neon chair.

Armrests and Accessories

Armrests are not included in the base configuration of the ESD Neon chair and can be ordered separately as the ESD 4D T-Armrests accessory, adjustable in height, width and depth, and available for all six frame codes. For high-frame versions, above 650 mm, self-locking Stop & Go castors are also available, complying with the safety requirements of DIN 68877.

Build Quality and Warranty

The ESD Neon chair frame is made from black aluminium, with a net frame weight of 18 kg on the 450-620 mm versions or 21 kg on the 560-820 mm versions, plus a 3 kg upholstery element. Every ESD Neon chair is manufactured in Germany and backed by a 10-year warranty, covering the ergonomic mechanisms, frame and base against manufacturing defects.
